Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved additional days off for civil servants in response to the recent fuel price increase, which has significantly impacted commuting challenges.
Effective immediately, officers on Grade Levels 01-14 will receive two days off per week, while those on Grade Levels 15-17 will have one day off per week. The State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, announced the policy on Wednesday, stating that it aims to alleviate the financial strain on workers and improve their overall productivity and morale.
Onasanya emphasized that this decision reflects Governor Abiodun’s commitment to enhancing worker welfare. The policy is designed to provide substantial relief amid rising transportation costs and ensure that service delivery remains effective.
The governor had previously introduced a one-day-off policy in July 2023 for all grade levels. The new extension for lower-grade levels is intended to further ease financial burdens and support a more motivated workforce.
Onasanya also urged all accounting officers to implement this new policy efficiently across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies while maintaining high standards of service delivery.
