The Taraba State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested individuals involved in the theft and vandalism of power installations in the state.

At a press briefing on Thursday at the Command headquarters in Jalingo, the state commandant, Anthony Bala Bitrus, confirmed the suspects were apprehended during a joint operation with the Nigerian Air Force. The arrests occurred near Mallam Ali Junction, close to the Danbaba Danfulani Suntai Airport in Jalingo.

Two key suspects, Jamilu Husaini and Isiaka Usaini, admitted to stealing a 30-foot armored cable valued between N3 million and N6 million from a transformer in the Alingora community of Ardo Kola Local Government Area.

In addition, Abubakar Ahmed, 25, was arrested in Jalingo for allegedly receiving and selling stolen armored cables. The Command also paraded a notorious burglar, Ayuba Ajiya, who had been involved in a series of home break-ins in Jalingo and Zing Local Government Areas.

The Command further revealed that Ajiya started his criminal activities at the age of 16. Alongside him, Daddy Vincent, who was accused of distributing stolen goods, was also paraded, with several stolen items recovered during the investigation.

The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating criminal activities in the state and urged residents to collaborate with security agencies by providing credible intelligence to improve security.
