NPA to Launch Electronic Call-Up System at Onne Port

-

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is preparing to implement a cutting-edge electronic call-up system at the Onne Port complex, following recent approval from the Federal Executive Council. This initiative represents a major advancement in the modernization of port operations.

Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, the Managing Director/CEO of NPA, announced the upcoming launch on Monday during a pre-implementation visit by the Executive Teams from Callup Technology Services Limited and Forge Concepts Limited, the developers responsible for the electronic system. Dr. Dantsoho stressed that, in line with directives from the Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, the NPA is committed to accelerating the automation of truck traffic management at Onne Port, aiming for completion before the end of this quarter.

He also assured that the IT infrastructure provided by the system operators will be seamlessly integrated with the Port Community System (PCS) and the upcoming National Single Window (NSW). Additionally, Dr. Dantsoho underscored the importance of adopting sustainable practices, including the use of alternative energy sources, within the port’s operations.

The Onne Port Complex, which includes the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT) and Federal Lighter Terminal (FLT), is renowned as the largest Oil & Gas logistics hub in West and Central Africa. The port has recently seen significant growth in vessel and cargo traffic.

Dr. Dantsoho, who previously managed the Onne Port Complex from 2020 to 2021, played a pivotal role in launching innovative, investor-friendly initiatives that have driven the port’s consistent year-on-year growth.
