“No Going Back” – Sowore Stands Firm on October 1 Nationwide Protest Against Hardship in Nigeria

-

Organizers of the nationwide protest scheduled for October 1, aimed at addressing the escalating hardship in Nigeria, are determined to move forward despite warnings from the Federal Government and the Nigeria Police Force.

Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and a key organizer of the protest, reaffirmed their commitment in a viral post on X, stating, “NO GOING BACK! #FearlessInOctober.”

In an interview shared on his social media, Sowore highlighted the worsening conditions since the last protest on August 1, noting that petrol prices have surged nearly N300 per litre, the naira has devalued further, and the cost of living continues to rise amid increasing violence and flooding in communities.

The peaceful protest is set to take place at Eagles Square in Abuja, while organizers in Lagos plan to start their march at 7:30 AM from the Ikeja Under Bridge.
