No Faction in PDP, I Am Still National Secretary – Samuel Anyanwu

-

The embattled National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, has reaffirmed his position as the legitimate officeholder amidst claims by Sunday Ude-Okoye.

Anyanwu made the declaration on *Nigeria Right Now,* a current affairs program, stating that despite a Court of Appeal judgment ruling in favor of Ude-Okoye, he remains the party’s National Secretary due to an appeal and a stay of execution filed at the Supreme Court.

The PDP has been grappling with internal discord after the Court of Appeal on December 20, 2024, ruled that Ude-Okoye, nominated by the southeast zonal executive committee, should replace Anyanwu. This followed Anyanwu’s candidacy for the PDP gubernatorial ticket in Imo State in 2023.

Anyanwu noted that the Court of Appeal’s judgment overturned previous rulings that affirmed his position. However, he argued that his tenure, having been secured through a national convention, is valid until December 9, 2025.

He emphasized:
“As of today, I am still the National Secretary of PDP. The federal high court confirmed my position, ruling that my election by convention ensures my tenure until its official end date.”

The crisis continues as Ude-Okoye claims the role, while Anyanwu’s legal challenge awaits resolution.
