Nigerian Government Begins Sale of Subsidized 50kg Rice at N40,000 in Ogun State

-

The Federal Government has launched the sale of 50kg bags of rice at a subsidized price of N40,000, starting in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The initiative, aimed at providing relief to Nigerians, was announced on Thursday by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari. Represented by Mrs. Toyin Ayo-Ajayi, the state director of the ministry, Kyari explained that the program is being monitored to ensure fairness, transparency, and security.

To buy the rice, individuals need to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) and an ATM card. Kyari commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his leadership, noting that Ogun is one of the first states to benefit from this program due to the governor’s efforts to prioritize citizens’ welfare. The distribution covers all three senatorial districts in the state, ensuring that the rice reaches grassroots communities.
