The Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC) has expressed strong support for Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, praising his dedication to upholding democratic principles and protecting the people’s mandate. This endorsement was conveyed in a statement released Monday in Abuja by the National Coordinator of the Congress, Comrade Israel Uwejeyan.
The statement lauded Governor Fubara’s leadership as a testament to justice, transparency, and accountability—values essential for the progress and development of any society.
“The Congress extends its unwavering support to Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his exemplary and steadfast commitment to upholding democratic values, safeguarding the will of the people, and standing as a beacon of hope and integrity in the face of attempts to undermine the sanctity of democracy in our beloved state,” the statement read.
Additionally, the NDYC criticized recent remarks by Nyesom Wike, which they believe could incite political unrest in states governed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), thereby threatening national political stability.
“We commend the PDP Governors Forum for their unflinching and resolute support for Governor Fubara in this struggle to uphold democracy and protect the sovereignty of the people’s mandate,” the statement continued.
The NDYC also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action by cautioning the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, against making inflammatory statements or engaging in actions that could escalate tensions and provoke violence nationwide.
“We urge all stakeholders, political leaders, and the general public to rally behind Governor Fubara and resist any attempts to subvert the will of the people,” the statement concluded.
The NDYC reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for good governance, the rule of law, and the protection of democratic institutions.
