Mixed reactions have arisen in response to Nigerian Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde, also known as Kwam1 or K1 De Ultimate, paying tribute to the late singer Mohbad during his ongoing coronation ceremony in Ijebu.
Kwam1 took a moment to remember Mohbad, expressing how Nigeria is blessed with numerous artists but tragically lost one this month. He expressed his feelings of sadness about the unexpected passing of Mohbad and extended his prayers for the late singer to rest in peace.
“We have a whole lot of artists that can keep the country together, we have Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Tiwa Sãvage. Unfortunately, something happened to us a while ago, it caught us unaware and it set us back, and made us feel bad about ourselves and our attitudes. Mohbad rest in peace. Mohbad, we pray to God Almighty, may your soul rest in peace.”
However, netizens criticized Kwam1 for offering his tribute to Mohbad, pointing out that his daughter is the lawyer for Naira Marley, who reportedly had conflicts with Mohbad until his unfortunate death.
This controversy arises following Kwam1’s recent confirmation of his new title as The New Olori Omoba Akile Ijebu during the Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu. The celebratory event drew the presence of celebrities like Mercy Aigbe Adeoti, Shina Peller, Queen Salawa Abeni, and others close to Kwam1, including Mercy Aigbe and her husband, who paid tribute to him and his wife after returning from Mecca.
