The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has named Joe Onyiuke, President of the Oil Palm Growers Association of Nigeria (OPGAN), as the Vice Chairman of its Agribusiness Trade Group.
In an official statement, NACCIMA’s National President, Dele Oye, highlighted that Onyiuke’s new role will involve collaborating closely with the chairman to provide leadership and strategic guidance for the association’s efforts in the agribusiness sectors of Nigeria’s economy.
“I am pleased to inform you of your appointment as Vice Chairman of the NACCIMA Agribusiness Trade Group,” Oye wrote in a letter to Onyiuke. “This position reflects your extensive experience and significant contributions to the agricultural sector, particularly in advancing the oil palm industry in Nigeria.”
As Vice Chairman, Onyiuke will focus on advocating for agribusiness-friendly policies, fostering collaboration among key stakeholders, and spearheading initiatives to drive the sector’s growth and sustainability.
With over 25 years of experience in corporate, legal, and entrepreneurial sectors, Onyiuke is a dedicated advocate for the development of the oil palm industry in Nigeria. He has been instrumental in expanding the number of oil palm-producing states from 24 to 27, gaining full recognition and support from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
Onyiuke’s efforts to rejuvenate the oil palm industry include launching oil palm radio and TV platforms to educate farmers and update them on best practices for plantation management. His background also includes serving as National Legal Adviser to the National Cotton Association of Nigeria (NACOTAN) and holding various roles in the banking sector, where he earned multiple accolades before voluntarily resigning to pursue his agricultural passions.
He currently serves as the Managing Director of Ayip Eku Oil Palm Company Limited and is active on the boards of several agricultural and corporate ventures. Onyiuke is married with children and enjoys playing golf and lawn tennis.
