Morang, Ubakanma Triumph at 2024 Indian Cup Golf Tournament

Krishav Morang and Uche Ubakanma claimed victory in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, at the 2024 Indian Cup golf tournament, held at Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos. Morang, with a handicap of 20, delivered an impressive 82 gross score to achieve an overall best net of 62, finishing five shots ahead of runner-up Mike Makinde, who recorded a 67 net score.

In the women’s category, Ubakanma took the lead with a 92 gross score and a 25 handicap, beating Adeola Banjoko by two shots. Other winners included Evelyn Oyome for the ladies’ gross prize and Shade Opawunmi in the guest category. Ankit Puri, a six-handicapper, posted the best gross score of the tournament with a 74, just two over par, followed by Remi Olukoya and Akar Talah.

Chairman of the Indian Cup organizing committee, Aby Matthew, highlighted the event’s success and its significance in strengthening ties between the Nigerian and Indian business communities. He noted support from brands such as InBev, Zenith Bank, and Pepsi, and expressed gratitude for the involvement of CFAO, who offered a Suzuki car as a hole-in-one prize.

The Indian Cup continues to be a celebrated tradition for the Ikoyi Club community, drawing over 400 participants and fostering camaraderie among businessmen golfers.
