In a recent interview with Fabrizio Romano for ‘433’, Lionel Messi has firmly stated that he has no intention of becoming a coach after his playing career ends. The Argentine superstar expressed his current focus on enjoying his football and daily training, rather than contemplating future coaching roles.
“I wouldn’t like to be a coach. But I’m still not sure what I’d like to do in the future. I value much more than before everything I do on a day-to-day basis, so I just think about playing, training, and having fun,” Messi said.
When discussing the upcoming 2026 World Cup, Messi admitted uncertainty about his participation. He emphasized the importance of concluding the current season well and preparing adequately for the pre-season, which he felt was lacking last year due to extensive travel commitments. “There’s still a long way to go, so I’m not thinking too much about it,” he added.
Reflecting on his illustrious career, Messi expressed gratitude for his achievements, particularly his long-desired World Cup victory. He stated, “Let people remember me as they want. My biggest dream was to win the World Cup, which I fought for a long time and which cost me a lot of effort.”
As he looks ahead to his ambitions with Inter Miami, who recently secured the regular season title, Messi noted, “We were happy and celebrated the achievement because it was something difficult and important. We are aware that the real title we want is the MLS.” He acknowledged that the team needs to minimize mistakes during the playoffs, as they could lead to elimination.
Messi underscored Inter Miami’s growth-oriented philosophy, saying, “The club does not set limits; that is the philosophy. This was demonstrated by everything they have done so far. We have to keep growing in order to be great within the MLS and, why not, within the world.”
