The head of the Lagbaja family of Ilobu Kingdom in Osun State, Mr. Demola Lagbaja, expressed his regret that the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoheed Lagbaja, did not get to enjoy life after his military service. Speaking during a condolence visit by the St. Charles Grammar School Old Boys Association in Ibadan, he shared the family’s disappointment that their son, who had served a distinguished military career, was unable to retire peacefully and enjoy the fruits of his labor.
“We had hoped that after his service, he would retire to live a life of peace, but unfortunately, that was not to be,” Demola said. “What happened has happened, and we must submit to the will of God, but we are proud of him, and we hope he rests in peace.”
He noted that Lt. Gen. Lagbaja had devoted his entire career to the military after completing his A-levels at the Polytechnic, and though they wished for more, they found comfort in his legacy.
The family head thanked the Old Boys Association for their support, adding that the late army chief had been highly respected, both personally and professionally, since his passing.
During the visit, Mr. Sola Omopo, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of St. Charles Grammar School, expressed deep sorrow at the loss of a distinguished alumnus. Omopo highlighted Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s contributions to the school, including his role in funding a N550 million project nearing completion.
Lt. Gen. Lagbaja passed away on November 5, 2024, at the age of 56. His family and community continue to honor his legacy.
