Fuji music legend King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as Kwam1, is facing backlash after his son with actress Bisola Badmus received a scholarship from Nigerians. This comes after Bisola, who is battling a brain tumor, opened up about her difficulties co-parenting with Kwam1.
In a recent interview, Bisola revealed that she initially kept her illness from the singer, but when he eventually found out, he supported her briefly before stopping communication. Struggling to meet her son’s needs, she reached out to Kwam1, urging him to take on more responsibility in their child’s life.
Moved by her story, several Nigerians offered to assist, with some even stepping in to provide her son with a scholarship. Actress Biola Bayo shared the heartwarming news on Instagram, thanking those who helped. “Thank God we finally got a scholarship for Malik! May God continue to help her, and may she never lack good people around her,” Bayo wrote.
However, the situation has sparked criticism toward Kwam1, with many accusing him of being a neglectful father. One social media user commented, “His dad is hale and hearty, yet his son is being offered a scholarship. If this isn’t the definition of a deadbeat father, I don’t know what is.”
The criticism echoes sentiments from 2022 when Bisola took a jab at Kwam1 during their son’s 10th birthday, accusing him of failing to fulfill his parental duties while she has been acting as both mother and father.
Despite the negativity, many are celebrating the good news, expressing gratitude for the generosity extended to Bisola and her son.
