Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo Kanayo has publicly praised his junior colleague, Yul Edochie, for his acting skills. On Instagram, Kanayo Kanayo shared a clip from the set of his movie with Yul, highlighting his talent as a performer.
“Hate or like him @yuledochie, one thing you can’t take away from him is that he is a great performer who knows how to use his voice and body to express his artistic mien and candor. Kudos bro,” Kanayo wrote. He also announced the upcoming release of their project, “UNTIL YOU CAME,” on Kanayo O Kanayo TV on YouTube, calling it a “MUST WATCH.”
Yul Edochie responded with gratitude on his own Instagram page, sharing a photo with Kanayo and expressing his honor at working with him. He wished Kanayo “long life and endless blessings” and acknowledged the support of his colleague, @realsunyrichyofficial, and @ndjstill.
The tribute comes amid a period of turbulence for Yul Edochie. In 2021, he publicly criticized Kanayo Kanayo for excluding him from a video with singer Flavour. However, after Kanayo corrected the mistake by releasing a new version of the video, Yul issued a public apology.
Yul Edochie has faced significant backlash following his second marriage to Judy Austin, which has impacted his endorsement deals and movie roles. Despite these challenges, he continues to receive support from some of his peers. Lizzy Gold, for instance, praised Yul during his birthday in January, emphasizing his passion for his work and his impact on Nollywood.
Yul has also shared insights from his father, Pete Edochie, who advised him to focus on acting before transitioning to directing. Yul’s return to acting and his improvement in directorial skills have earned him recognition and praise from his father.
