The Federal Government has declared Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18, as public holidays to celebrate this year’s Eid-ul-Adha.
Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulating all Muslim faithful both at home and abroad on the occasion.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako.
Tunji-Ojo urged the Muslim community to continue embodying the spirit of peace, kindness, and sacrifice as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He also encouraged using the period to pray for the unity, prosperity, and stability of the country.
The Minister emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is dedicated to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians.
He called on all Muslims and Nigerians to support the President’s efforts to diversify the economy and accelerate the nation’s economic recovery.
While wishing the Muslim Ummah a joyous Eid-ul-Adha, Tunji-Ojo advised all Nigerians to commit to ensuring a prosperous future for the nation’s children.
