Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been appointed as the head of football operations at Red Bull, which oversees clubs including Leipzig, Salzburg, and New York. Klopp, who concluded his nine-year tenure at Liverpool at the end of last season, expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “After nearly 25 years on the sidelines, I couldn’t be more excited to be involved in a project like this.”

His new position will officially commence on January 1, 2025. According to a statement from the Austrian energy drink company, Klopp will focus on higher-level strategic initiatives and will not be involved in the daily operations of the clubs.

“I see my role primarily as a mentor for the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs,” Klopp added, emphasizing his commitment to supporting the development of the clubs’ coaching staff.

Reports from Sky Germany suggest that Klopp’s contract includes an exit clause, allowing him to take over as manager of the German national team if approached.

During his time at Liverpool, Klopp rejuvenated the team, leading them to victories in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
