Super agent Jorge Mendes has arrived in England to discuss the potential transfer of Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte to Manchester United, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. Manchester United has been in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) throughout the summer, with manager Erik ten Hag keen to bolster his midfield for the upcoming season.

The discussions between United and PSG have hit a roadblock over the valuation of Ugarte, with PSG insisting on a £51 million fee for the midfielder. Manchester United has been reluctant to meet this demand and has been exploring alternative midfield options, including Sander Berge and Youssouf Fofana.

Mendes is now in the UK to mediate and potentially resolve the deadlock between the two clubs. According to Romano, Mendes is actively working to break the impasse and secure Ugarte’s transfer to Old Trafford. Romano noted on his X account, “Jorge Mendes, in England to discuss João Félix with Chelsea… and Manuel Ugarte with Man United.”

PSG is reportedly expecting Ugarte to leave before the transfer window closes, and personal terms between Ugarte and Manchester United have already been agreed upon. The transfer will likely proceed if the clubs can reach a financial agreement. Romano added, “Ugarte agreed personal terms with United weeks ago; PSG still sees him leaving. United needs the price to be reduced… or one more sale, otherwise they will go for a cheaper option.”

In addition to Ugarte, Mendes is also expected to discuss João Félix’s potential move from Atlético Madrid to Chelsea during his visit to England.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is reportedly considering strengthening their attacking lineup, with former Leeds star Raphinha being linked to a potential move to Old Trafford. This interest arises amid uncertainty over the futures of current United wingers Jadon Sancho and Antony, who have faced challenges in recent seasons.
