In a heartfelt Instagram post, the veteran actor described his late wife as his first love and the mother of his older children. He reflected on how death often feels distant until it strikes someone close to you.

Jide Kosoko shared that when he lost his wife in 1993, it was a deeply emotional experience for him because she was not only a source of joy and happiness for him but also for their children. She played a central and essential role in maintaining harmony in their home.

Despite several years having passed since her passing, certain events and circumstances continue to evoke loving memories of her. Jide expressed his belief that she remains with him in spirit, concluding with the Yoruba adage, “Oku olomo ki sun” (The dead can never be forgotten). He wished her eternal peace.

“Today marks the 30-year remembrance of my darling wife, my very first love, and mother of my older children, Late Alhaja Sherifat Abimbola Kosoko nee Lawal.

Death! Is usually like a rumor to us until it comes to someone very dear and precious to one! When I lost you in 1993 to the cold hands of death. It was not a pleasant experience for me because you serve as my source of joy and happiness and that of your children too. You played a central and vital role in the balance of the home Even though I got along a few years after your demise, certain events & circumstances always trigger your loving memories. I know you stand with me in spirit hence I believe in the Yoruba adage which says ‘Oku olomo ki sun’. Continue to Rest in peace my darling.”
