Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has reiterated his strong commitment to addressing Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges with renewed determination. He called on police officers nationwide to intensify their efforts in creating a safer environment for all citizens.
Egbetokun made these remarks during the graduation ceremony of 169 officers from the Police Special Intervention Squad, held on Monday at Ende Hills in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
“This event signifies a major step forward in our ongoing mission to achieve a more secure and peaceful Nigeria,” Egbetokun stated. “It also reflects the Nigerian Police Force’s dedication to establishing a crime-free society.”
He highlighted that the Special Intervention Squad represents the latest in a series of strategic initiatives by the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) aimed at countering the threats posed by non-state actors seeking to destabilize the nation’s security.
The newly graduated officers have undergone intensive training, equipping them with the skills necessary to confront various forms of criminal activity across the country.
“I urge you to always maintain professionalism in carrying out your constitutional duties,” Egbetokun added.
Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, who was the special guest of honor at the event, congratulated the officers on successfully completing their training. He also praised the IGP for his focus on the continuous training and retraining of police personnel to ensure they stay current with the latest techniques and knowledge required for their roles.
Governor Sule further commended former IGP Mohammed Adamu for his vision in establishing the Police Mobile Training College at Ende Hills, transforming an area once known for criminal activity into a center of excellence for law enforcement training.
