The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed that 35 minors were killed in a stampede during a funfair in Ibadan. The incident, which occurred at the Islamic High School in Bashorun, Ibadan, led to the tragic deaths of the minors. Additionally, six other minors who sustained severe injuries are in critical condition and receiving medical treatment.
The funfair was organized by Prophetess Naomi Shikemi, the former Queen of the Ooni of Ife, and has been linked to the deadly stampede. The police have arrested eight individuals involved in organizing the event, including Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, Fasasi Abdulahi (the school principal), and several others.
The police spokesperson, SP Osifeso Adewale, stated that the investigation is ongoing, and those responsible for the incident will be held accountable.
