In a disturbing incident, gunmen riding motorcycles assaulted a military checkpoint on the Amangwu stretch of the Amasiri-Owutu-Edda highway in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi.
The Ebonyi Police Command verified the event to the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday.
State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, reported that the attack occurred in the early hours of Friday in the region.
Ukandu stated, “Information from the Owutu Police Division indicates that some armed individuals attacked a military checkpoint on Friday morning.”
He further noted, “The number of casualties is not yet confirmed. The attack was executed by suspected gunmen operating on motorcycles.”
