Gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked Kakin Dawa village in Gidan Goga district, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, abducting over 50 women and children.
The assault occurred around 1:30 am on Sunday. According to a local resident, the heavily armed assailants moved from house to house, forcing residents to flee for their lives.
“Everyone started running because the armed bandits have been targeting our village. Later, we discovered that more than 50 of our women were abducted,” the source revealed.
The victims reportedly include both young girls and married women. The resident urged the federal and Zamfara State governments to increase military and security personnel in the region to combat the growing threat of banditry.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the state police spokesman, ASP Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
Zamfara has remained a hotspot for banditry, raising concerns over the safety of rural communities and the need for urgent intervention.
