Governor Yusuf Dissolves Caretaker Committees in Kano’s 44 Local Governments

-

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has dissolved the caretaker chairmen overseeing the state’s 44 local government areas. This move follows a recent two-month extension of their tenure, which had been approved by the Kano State House of Assembly to ensure continuity in local governance.

Sanusi Bature, the governor’s spokesperson, confirmed the dissolution, which affects all chairmen, vice chairmen, secretaries, and councillors. The governor directed that leadership responsibilities be transferred to the respective personnel management directors of each local government.

Governor Yusuf thanked the outgoing chairmen for their service and indicated that there might be future opportunities for collaboration. Local government elections in Kano are scheduled for October 26, 2024.
