Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has sent a clear message to Manchester City and Arsenal, asserting that Liverpool’s ambition this season is to win the Premier League title.
Following a commanding 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, Van Dijk emphasized Liverpool’s serious intent. The Reds’ performance was dominant, with Luis Diaz scoring twice in the first half and Mohamed Salah providing both assists. Salah added a third goal in the 55th minute, leaving Manchester United reeling from their second defeat in three encounters this season.
“It’s a proud moment,” Van Dijk told Sky Sports. “What pleased me the most was the performance from start to finish. We dominated and should have scored more. Winning 3-0 is a big improvement from last year.”
Van Dijk made it clear that Liverpool is not just participating but is focused on clinching the title. “I’m not competing in any competition just to compete. I want to win,” he added. “We came up against a very good team in Man City and Arsenal.”
