EPL: Martin Satisfied with Aribo’s Performance in Southampton’s Defeat to Chelsea

-

Southampton manager Russell Martin praised Joe Aribo for his performance despite the team’s heavy defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday. Aribo scored the equalizer after Chelsea’s Axel Disasi opened the scoring early in the match, marking his second league goal of the season. He had previously scored against Leicester City on October 19.

While Southampton ultimately lost 5-1, with Chelsea running riot after Aribo’s goal, Martin highlighted several positives from the match, including the performances of Nathan Wood, who impressed on his debut, and James Bree, who stepped up in the team.

Martin expressed pride in the players who stepped in and performed well despite limited game time, saying, “Joe Aribo was the same. The guys who came in from not playing much were outstanding, and I’m proud of them for that.”
