Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his victory in the Edo State governorship election. Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes, according to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, Oyebanji commended the Edo electorate for demonstrating confidence in the APC and its Renewed Hope Agenda, leading to Okpebholo’s victory. He characterized the win as a significant endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to strengthen democracy in Nigeria.

“The victory is a vote of confidence in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, who has deepened our democracy. It is a new day in Edo State, and I congratulate the people for returning to the progressive fold,” Oyebanji stated.

The governor praised the INEC for ensuring that the people’s votes were counted and affirmed that democracy is firmly taking root in the country. He called on the governor-elect and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, to be magnanimous in victory and extend olive branches to their opponents.

Oyebanji urged Okpebholo to view his election as a call to serve and implement people-oriented programs to foster progress and prosperity for the citizens of Edo State.

“Hearty congratulations to my brother, the governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa,” he concluded.
