Kano, April 3, 2025 – Prominent Nigerians, including Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, gathered on Wednesday to attend the funeral prayers for the late Galadiman Kano, Abbas Sunusi, a respected figure in the Kano Emirate.
Sunusi, who passed away at the age of 91 after a prolonged illness, was honored with prayers led by the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof. Sani Zahradeen, at the Emir’s Palace.
Among those in attendance were New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso, NNPP chieftain Abdullahi Abbas, and Kano State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The burial, which took place at Gandun Albasa graveyard, was also attended by the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Nasiru Aliko Koki, who represented APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
The late Sunusi played a significant role in the Kano Emirate, previously serving as Wamban Kano and a senior counsellor under the late Emir, Alhaji Ado Bayero.
He is survived by his wives and 35 children.
