The Delta State Police Command has arrested 678 suspects for various crimes across the state since February 2024. Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda revealed this during a press briefing on Tuesday in Asaba, highlighting the achievements under his leadership.
Weapons and Criminal Activities
The command recovered:
- 32 AK-47/AK-49 rifles
- 27 Beretta pistols
- 72 single barrel/cut-to-size guns
- 19 pump-action guns
- 5,042 rounds of ammunition and cartridges
Among the 678 arrested suspects were:
- 131 suspected armed robbers
- 88 suspected kidnappers
- 76 murder suspects
- 329 suspected cultists
- 54 suspected rapists
Additionally, 48 kidnapped victims were rescued, and 27 vehicles were recovered.
Since his assumption of office in February 2024, CP Abaniwonda has implemented strategies that have significantly reduced crime in Delta State. He commended his officers for their dedication and urged residents to continue supporting the police to maintain peace and security.
The achievements reflect the Delta State Police Command’s commitment to combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety of residents.
