Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have announced that Victor Boniface did not sustain any major injuries following a serious car accident on Sunday. The incident occurred as the forward was en route to the airport to pick up friends when his Mercedes-Benz collided with an oncoming truck.
In a statement to the German news outlet Bild, the club reassured fans that Boniface is in good condition, stating, “He is fine. Boniface only had two minor injuries to his hand.”
The 23-year-old striker had just contributed significantly to Bayer Leverkusen’s success, scoring the winning goal in their recent 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt last Saturday. Despite missing a penalty during that match, Boniface managed to find the net 18 minutes before the final whistle, securing the win for his team.
