Bauchi City in Bauchi State is set to host the final phase of the 2024 Beach Volleyball Star Tour. The tournament, which will take place from November 11 to 18, will be held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, with 24 teams competing for the grand prize.
DCP Stephen Hasso (Retired), Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, expressed appreciation to Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, for his support in bringing the prestigious event to the state. He noted that the tour’s selection of Bauchi as the host city is largely due to Engineer Musa Nimrod’s recent appointment as President of the CAVB Beach Volleyball Commission, which has further elevated Nigeria’s presence in African volleyball.
“This marks a new beginning for beach volleyball in Nigeria,” Hasso stated. “Bauchi State has consistently supported the sport and is now home to some of Africa’s top beach volleyball players.”
Hasso encouraged fans from the North Central and North East regions to attend the tournament, which he described as one of the most important beach volleyball events in West Africa. He highlighted Nigeria’s pioneering role in Sub-Saharan Africa by organizing the President’s Cup and the Star/Open Tour.
The committee aims to boost beach volleyball’s appeal to both fans and private investors, fostering further growth for the sport.
