Aviation unions in Nigeria will stage a nationwide protest on Wednesday, September 18, over the federal government’s 50% deduction from the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of aviation agencies. The unions involved include NUATE, ANAP, NAAPE, AUPCTRE, and ATSSSAN.
They are protesting the impact of these deductions on agencies such as the NCAA, FAAN, NAMA, and others, which they argue are being starved of funds necessary for critical safety operations. Despite efforts to reverse the policy, the government has not budged. The unions plan to mobilize all their members for the peaceful protest, warning of further actions if their demands are not met.
