The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has lauded the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL) for the successful restoration of the Port Harcourt Refinery. In a statement issued by AYCF President General, Yerima Shettima, the group hailed the commencement of crude oil processing at the refinery, which boasts an installed production capacity of 60,000 barrels per day.
Shettima emphasized that this achievement marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward self-sufficiency in petroleum products. He highlighted the refinery’s ability to load 200 trucks daily with locally refined products, underscoring the government’s commitment to revitalizing key infrastructure.
The operational refinery is seen as a beacon of hope, representing the country’s potential in the oil sector despite years of inefficiency. The development is expected to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products, stabilize fuel prices, and create numerous job opportunities, particularly benefiting the nation’s youth.
The AYCF has urged continued collaboration between the Federal Government, NNPCL, and local communities to ensure the long-term success of the project and its widespread benefits.
