The All Progressives Congress (APC) has claimed victory in all 13 chairmanship positions in the recent local government elections held on November 2, 2024, in Nasarawa State. The announcement was made by Mr. Ayuba Wandai, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC), during a declaration at the commission’s office in Lafia.
In addition to winning all chairmanship seats, the APC also secured 140 out of 147 councillorship positions. Opposition parties managed to win seven councillorship seats: the Social Democratic Party (SDP) captured five—one in Akwanga and four in Nasarawa-Eggon—while the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) won two seats in Doma Local Government.
A total of nine political parties presented candidates for the elections, but the APC emerged as the clear victor.
