The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to launch a comprehensive investigation into a medical supply contract awarded to 44 local governments in the state. APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, also requested the freezing of the accounts of these local councils to prevent further misuse of funds under the guise of joint projects.
Abbas criticized Governor Abba Yusuf, questioning his leadership capabilities after the governor admitted to being unaware of the contract. He also expressed doubt over the impartiality of Muhyi Gado, the head of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, citing concerns about his ability to conduct a fair investigation due to alleged partisan ties.
The APC chairman highlighted this issue as part of a broader pattern of alleged financial mismanagement within the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) government, referencing past scandals that were either not investigated or inadequately addressed.
