Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Ltd., known for its innovative Noiler birds, has introduced Noiler City, a new initiative aimed at addressing the rising food prices in Nigeria. This project is designed to offer a sustainable solution to the escalating costs of eggs and meat, which have surged by 54% over the past year, with an additional 50% increase reported by August 2024, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Food Price Report.
Dr. Ayoola Oduntan, Group Managing Director of Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Ltd., expressed enthusiasm for the project: “We are excited to unveil Noiler City, a project dedicated to empowering urban families to manage their food supply amidst soaring food costs. After successfully enhancing food security in rural areas by providing over a million households with reliable meat and eggs, we are bringing this proven model to urban settings to bolster city food security and self-sufficiency.”
Noiler City builds on the success of Noiler birds in rural communities, where they have improved food security for over 1.4 million households through a sustainable farming approach. The new initiative aims to extend these benefits to urban areas with a tailored package for city residents.
The Noiler City Package is priced at N150,000 and offers a comprehensive and affordable solution for urban poultry farming. The package includes:
– A durable Battery Cage with a capacity for up to 16 birds.
– 10 five-week-old Noiler birds (6 females and 4 males). The females are prolific egg layers, producing at least 150 eggs per cycle starting from 20 weeks, while the males, maturing by 14 weeks, are ideal for meat production.
– 10kg of Noiler feed, 100g of Divertamin multivitamin, and 500ml of disinfectant.
– A Noiler City Management Manual with detailed guidance, suitable even for those with limited poultry experience.
Mrs. Itoro Awala-Ale, Business Development Manager, highlighted the significance of the package: “Our inclusive package is designed to empower city dwellers, regardless of their poultry farming experience or space limitations. Once the hens start laying, you will have a steady supply of fresh eggs right in your backyard, providing a consistent protein source for your family.”
Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Ltd. remains committed to enhancing food security and self-sufficiency across Nigeria. With Noiler City, the company aims to transform urban food systems and make high-quality, affordable poultry products accessible to city residents. The Noiler bird, a dual-purpose breed, is known for its efficiency, growing three times faster and laying five times more eggs than native chickens, making it an ideal choice for urban poultry farming.
