Nollywood actress Hilda Dokubo has stirred controversy by indirectly criticizing gospel singer Mercy Chinwo for allegedly betraying those who supported her.
On her Instagram page, Dokubo shared a screenshot of a past tribute from Chinwo to her former label boss, Emzee Tee, praising him for his supportive role in her life before their fallout.
Dokubo suggested that one’s true character often emerges when they gain power, fame, and wealth, implying that those who betray their benefactors must have ulterior motives.
She wrote, “You might think that you know someone until you give them the opportunity to earn power, fame, and fortune. ALL WHO BITE THE FINGER THAT FEEDS THEM MUST HAVE BLOOD IN THEIR MEAL.”
This comes after music producer Ft Doy recounted his negative experience working with Chinwo, alleging that she ignored his plea for help when his father fell ill. However, another producer, Dr Roy, clarified that his comments were directed at Chinwo’s former label boss, Ezekiel ThankGod, not at Chinwo herself.
In 2022, Chinwo parted ways with her music label, Eezee Concepts, amid rumors of a disagreement with ThankGod. Chinwo shared a cryptic message on social media, alluding to dealing with dishonest individuals.
Following the split, Chinwo and her label mate Minister GUC unfollowed each other on Instagram, with GUC posting a vague message about ingratitude, prompting speculation about their rift.
