Nollywood Actress Mary Njoku Expresses Concern Over Soaring Prices

-

Mary Remmy Njoku, renowned Nollywood actress and CEO of ROK studios, has voiced her concerns about the challenging economic conditions in Nigeria. She took to her Instagram page to express her frustration with the high cost of living, as she recently spent ₦100,000 ($240) at a supermarket and still had an unfilled shopping trolley.

She highlighted the economic hardship facing many Nigerians, popularly referred to as “Sapa” (poverty), and questioned how the average person is preparing for the upcoming Christmas season. Mary also raised concerns about the minimum wage, indicating that the economic challenges in Nigeria have escalated dramatically.

This isn’t the first time Mary Njoku has spoken out about the economic situation in Nigeria. She previously lamented paying ₦664 ($1.60) for a toll gate and questioned whether this was the new norm or if she was being unfairly charged. She pointed out that it now takes more than the minimum monthly wage to fill a car’s gas tank.

Mary Njoku is just one of many celebrities in Nigeria who have spoken out about the difficulties facing the country. Others have expressed their concerns about the rising cost of living, fuel price hikes, exchange rate issues, and the challenges that ordinary Nigerians face daily.

These celebrity voices reflect the broader concerns of the Nigerian population regarding the state of the economy and the impact on their daily lives.
