A Muslim critic has raised objections regarding the Muslim community’s decision to honor Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe with a new title.
The accomplished actress was bestowed with the title of Arowoshadinni by the ABD Azeez Islamic Foundation, a recognition she proudly shared on social media, expressing her gratitude.
However, this announcement did not sit well with a Muslim critic, who lamented how everything nowadays seems to revolve around money, suggesting that this isn’t the Islam their Prophet had intended.
In response, some of Mercy Aigbe’s fans defended her, questioning what was wrong with her receiving such an honor.
One individual named Ayobami commented, “Keeps crying, Prophet’s secretary.”
Rukky Stitches chimed in with, “Eni problem daddy wa,” implying the critic was overly critical.
Agreeing with the critic, Haybee World added, “This life just has money.”
Another critic, Easy Biddy, concurred, saying, “You can say that again. The religion has been manipulated.”
It’s worth noting that Mercy Aigbe converted to Islam following her marriage to Kazim Adeoti, giving herself the Muslim name Hajia Minnah. She explained that her husband bestowed this name upon her, signifying “Mercy… Gift from Allah.” She embraced the significance and uniqueness of the name.
To further solidify her conversion, Mercy Aigbe undertook the Hajj pilgrimage alongside Kemi Afolabi in June. This pilgrimage made her an official Hajia. Following her return, her fans showered her with gifts, overwhelming her with their support and affection. She shared her appreciation on her Instagram page, displaying a video of one of the many gifts she had received.
