Social media critic Martins Ortse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has denied allegations that he threatened the life of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over the revocation of a land belonging to the family of late Colonel Paul Osakpamwan Ogbebor.
A viral video surfaced, claiming that Wike revoked the Ogbebor family’s property, which had been allocated since 1981. Following the revocation, a WhatsApp broadcast message suggested that VeryDarkMan had threatened Wike’s life.
In response, VDM distanced himself from the threat, explaining on Instagram that he had never made such a threat. He clarified that his video only appealed to the minister to reconsider the land documents presented by the Ogbebor family. According to VDM, the documents were legitimate, and his intention was to advocate for justice rather than resort to threats.
“I did not threaten Nyesom Wike’s life, nor am I associated with the WhatsApp broadcast circulating,” he posted. “My focus is to use my platform to speak out for oppressed people and seek justice when they are in the right.”
VDM further explained that the video he posted was edited and given a misleading caption, leading to the false assumption that he was threatening Wike. He reiterated that he had no ill intentions and was simply urging the minister to review the Ogbebor family’s land ownership.
