The Court of Appeal in Lagos has overturned the rape conviction of Dr. Femi Olaleye, the Managing Director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation. The appellate court ruled on Friday that the lower court had made an error in its judgment, leading to Olaleye’s discharge and acquittal.
Olaleye had been convicted in October 2023 by the Special Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos on charges of defilement and sexual assault by penetration. He had been sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice Rahman Oshodi.
