Afrobeats star Davido has sparked controversy following comments he made on *The Big Homies House Podcast*, advising Black Americans, particularly Nigerians, against relocating to Nigeria due to the country’s economic troubles. The singer described the current state of the Nigerian economy as being in “shambles,” a statement that has drawn sharp criticism from some citizens and public figures.
Among the critics, All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Joe Igbokwe expressed disappointment, urging the artist to retract his statement, emphasizing that Nigeria played a key role in Davido’s success. Similarly, Bashir Ahmed, a former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, called Davido’s remarks “unpatriotic” and urged public figures to serve as positive ambassadors for Nigeria.
