The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has inaugurated a new State Working Committee. The event, which took place at the party secretariat in Umuahia, saw the newly elected officers take an oath of office, administered by the party’s legal adviser, Ukpai Ukairo.

Abraham Amah, the newly appointed state chairman, expressed confidence that the new leadership would mark a fresh beginning for the party, positioning it to regain power in 2027. Amah outlined the committee’s determination to reclaim the state’s leadership and emphasized their willingness to make necessary sacrifices.

The new leadership is also committed to establishing a shadow government responsible for holding the current administration accountable. Amah added that the party would focus on ensuring good governance is delivered by the incumbent government.

In the coming weeks, the PDP plans to form an Elders Council, to be led by Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, with the goal of rejuvenating the party. Amah also mentioned discussions with former party members who expressed interest in rejoining, signaling a united front. He noted that even those who contested against him in the election have sent messages of congratulations, reflecting the party’s solidarity.

The new committee includes Gabriel Elendu (Vice Chairman, Abia North), Patrick Onwuka (Vice Chairman, Abia Central), and Chinyere Onuoha, among others.
