Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party (LP) despite the party’s disappointing performance in the recent local government elections. Speaking at a press briefing in Umuahia, Otti attributed the party’s failure to internal crises that caused many supporters to seek alternatives.
The governor explained that while his followers remained loyal to him and voted for the right candidates, they were disillusioned by the ongoing issues within the party. He emphasized that political parties are just platforms, and when a party is embroiled in turmoil, it creates opportunities for the competition.
Otti assured the public that he remains in the Labour Party, and if he ever decides to leave, it will be publicly communicated. Additionally, he addressed claims from the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) in Abia State, stating that retirees were not misled into signing any documents waiving their gratuities as alleged.
