Former House of Representatives member, Hon. Kabiru Yahaya Classic, has officially announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Classic made the announcement on Thursday after meeting with key APC leaders in Kaduna, including the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, and the Chairman of Senator Abdul’aziz Yari’s Political Organization, Alhaji Lawal M Liman.
The former lawmaker, who represented the Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency from 2019 to 2023, stated that his defection was driven by a lack of justice and fairness within the Zamfara chapter of the PDP. He also confirmed that he was bringing with him the PDP structures in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, including the Local Government Executive Committee (EXCO) and 10 out of the 11 Ward chairmen in the area.
In his statement, Classic expressed his gratitude to the APC, highlighting that he had defected alongside his supporters in search of fairness and better political opportunities.
Receiving the defector, Tukur Danfulani welcomed Classic into the APC fold, describing his defection as a positive development for the party. He also indicated that more defectors from the PDP-led government in Zamfara would join APC soon.
Senator Yari’s political ally, Alhaji Lawal M Liman, commended Classic and other defectors, emphasizing their contributions to the APC’s growth.
