Atiku’s Aide Accuses Tinubu of Plotting One-Party State, Ignoring Nigerians’ Suffering

-

Paul Ibe, spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has accused President Bola Tinubu of undermining Nigeria’s democracy by attempting to dismantle opposition parties ahead of the 2027 election. According to Ibe, Tinubu is working to weaken the PDP, Labour Party (LP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to establish a one-party system and pave the way for dictatorship.

In an interview with News Central TV, Ibe expressed concerns that Tinubu’s administration is focused more on securing a second term than addressing the challenges facing Nigerians. He stated that instead of governing, Tinubu’s efforts are aimed at destabilizing opposition parties, calling this move insensitive to the struggles of ordinary citizens.

Ibe defended Atiku against claims of selfishness, describing his 2023 presidential run as an act of patriotism. He criticized members of the PDP, such as Nyesom Wike, for allegedly supporting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in undermining the PDP and opposing parties.

Highlighting the importance of a robust opposition, Ibe warned that Tinubu’s alleged strategy to dismantle rival parties would damage Nigeria’s democratic foundation. He urged Nigerians to focus on the current challenges rather than 2027 ambitions and accused the administration of neglecting governance in favor of political scheming.
