Nigeria defender Kingsley Udoh is deeply saddened by the loss of his 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medal, which was kept by his late father. The 33-year-old, a key member of the Golden Eaglets’ winning squad in South Korea, spoke on Brila FM, revealing he hasn’t seen the medal since his father’s death.
Udoh, who also played for Nigeria at various international levels, expressed his distress over his current financial struggles, noting that he can’t even afford a coaching course due to lack of funds. He reflected on how the medal, which was a significant part of his career, could have helped him overcome his present challenges.
Udoh, who had successful domestic spells with clubs like Akwa United, Heartland, Kano Pillars, and Sunshine Stars, also contributed to the Flying Eagles’ victory at the African U-17 Championship in 2007.
