Nollywood actress Ufuoma McDermott has opened up about her health journey after being diagnosed with final-stage kidney disease. In a conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, McDermott recounted her decade-long battle with kidney issues and the tragic loss of her younger brother to the same condition. Diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease in 2023, she struggled to balance her career and health, which eventually led to stage 4, the disease’s final stage.
McDermott shared how six months of immobility and fear for her children’s future pushed her to reassess her lifestyle. She cited years of painkiller overuse as a factor, learning the hard way about the need to prioritize health. This experience, she says, has transformed her perspective on life and work.
