Super Eagles Rally Support for Flamingos Ahead of U-17 Women’s World Cup

Several stars from the Super Eagles have extended their goodwill messages to Nigeria’s U17 Women’s national team, the Flamingos, as they prepare for the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.

While the Super Eagles are currently in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, gearing up to face Libya in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, the Flamingos are in the Dominican Republic for their seventh World Cup appearance. After clinching their first World Cup medal in 2022, the team is determined to capture the trophy for the first time this year.

Team captain William Troost-Ekong expressed his support, stating, “We’ll be following the games and tuning in. I wish you girls all the best. Hopefully, you can continue the legacy wearing the green-white-green.”

Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen added, “I wish you guys the best of luck. We will be supporting you from home. We believe in you guys. We hope you bring the trophy back home.”

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi commended their qualification, saying, “You should be proud. It’s an amazing opportunity to showcase your talents.”

West Brom’s Semi Ajayi encouraged the Flamingos to make Nigerians proud, while SS Lazio’s Fisayo Dele-Bashiru reminded them of their responsibility to represent their country well.

The Flamingos will kick off their World Cup journey against New Zealand on October 16, followed by matches against Ecuador U17 on October 19 and the Dominican Republic on October 23.
