Remo Stars captain Junior Nduka is celebrating a significant milestone after achieving 100 caps in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). He reached this landmark during a tense 2-1 victory over champions Rangers International in Ikenne.
Completing the full 90 minutes in the match, Nduka joins an exclusive group of centurions in Nigerian top-flight football. He has not missed a minute of action this season, highlighting his crucial role in the team’s performance.
“So far, so good; the journey has been good, thanks to God and everyone who made it possible, especially the club and my teammates,” Nduka expressed in an interview with PUNCH Sports Extra.
The academy product, who made his NPFL debut in 2021, is eager to leverage his longevity at the club as they vie for the NPFL title once again. He emphasized the importance of consistency and determination, stating, “We are still a work in progress; we are not there yet. It’s not a sprint but a marathon. We will keep striving to make it count this season.”
Nduka made 37 appearances in his debut season, scoring two goals, and he played in all 18 matches during the abridged 2022/23 season, as well as six Super 6 games. He has continued to excel, receiving a car gift from club owner Kunle Soname in recognition of his dedication.
The Sky Blue Stars have finished second in the NPFL for the past two seasons and are determined to improve this year, currently leading the league with a perfect record after four matches.
