Victor Osimhen, the newly signed forward for Galatasaray, has arrived in Uyo via a private jet provided by his new club to join the Super Eagles for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Osimhen’s transfer from Napoli to Galatasaray has been finalized, following his medical examination in Istanbul. The move was expedited by Galatasaray in light of Mauro Icardi’s injury. Osimhen has signed a one-year loan agreement with Galatasaray, without a buy option, while Napoli and Osimhen have agreed to lower the current release clause to €75 million, with an option for the Turkish club to extend the deal until 2027.
The transfer arrangement has also been financially beneficial for Napoli, saving the club €15 million in wages. Osimhen’s contract with Galatasaray includes a release clause applicable only to ten specified teams, granting him the option to leave if an offer is made by any of those clubs.
The private jet provided by Galatasaray ensures that Osimhen can seamlessly integrate into the Super Eagles’ preparations for the upcoming qualifiers, reinforcing the club’s commitment to supporting their star player’s national team duties.
